What options are there when pain strikes. This varies on the severity of the pain, and where in the body the pain is occurring . If the pain is only a minor headache, toothache or a pain where you know the cause, such as a fall or graze, then an plain pain killer will usually suffice. For toothache pain killers containing Ibuprofen is probably the correct choice, toothache is often accompanied by inflammation, Ibuprofen is an anti inflammatory medication and will therefore help to decrease the inflammation. If the pain continues you should get medical advice, as the pain could be the symptom of a more chronic underlying medical problem. Pain is how your body tells you that something is wrong, do not ignore this message if pain is persistant.

There are two types of pain, acute pain and chronic pain. Acute pain is usually a short term pain that goes away without treatment, it has no serious underlying problems associated with it and usually requires nothing more than simple over the counter pain medication. Chronic pain though is more serious, chronic pain generally persists and is likely to be associated with an underlying condition or injury. It can often begin from something like a sprain or infection that eventually becomes more serious, or it can be the result of a developing disease or cancer. Chronic pain can persist for months, or even years. As well as a need to treat the main problem, pain killers stronger than normal pain medication is usually required. Among the most common pain medications include tramadol, ultram and ultracet, with tramadol being the most popular. These pain killers aren’t scheduled as controlled substances, it is therefore possible to buy tramadol online. In many cases pain killers are prescribed with other treatments to treat the problem causing the pain.

Probably the commonest form of pain we experience is headaches. A headache may well disappear without needing any treatment, normal pain relief medication will usually suffice to ease the pain. Migraine is a much more severe form of headache and can be caused by several conditions. A migraine may be accompanied by several other conditions, for example mood changes, sensitivity to light, one sided headaches and nausea or vomiting. A migraine may only last for a few hours, but can continue for several days. Anyone with a migraine should get medical attention as soon as possible.

For pain associated with muscles and joints, physiotherapy is often used, and in many cases can result in the complete cure of the underlying problem. Electrical stimulation is a technique sometimes used, often as a last resort. Electrical stimulation interrupts pain signals inside the spinal cord. Acupuncture may also be used to try and reduce pain, fine needles are place at key points on the skin, the theory being that these disrupt the flow of spasms through the body. Needles may be placed in areas far removed from the origin of the pain.

The main point to consider, is that if pain becomes serious or unbearable, especially if it persists, seek immediate medical attention, it could be down to a more serious problem.
