Is hoodia hyped as a best weight loss aid?
More than 1000 people buy different brands and types of Hoodia products (diet pills, patches, liquid hoodia) daily in the hope of losing weight. Hoodia diet pills are more common than patches and liquid hoodia products among them.
Does this prove Hoodia as an effective weight loss aid? Number of sales alone does not decide the effectiveness of a diet product.
There are 1000’s of hoodia product sellers who have been endorsing their brands of hoodia for weight loss since research conducted by CSIR on Hoodia Gordonii plant proved the appetite suppressing property of the plant. Media coverage that Hoodia Gordonii has got brought a new hope in people who desperately want to lose some extra pounds.
Hoodia looks like a hyped weight loss aid. Most of the people frustrated with their overweight are now under hoodia mania. They believe Hoodia as their ultimate way to burn fat.

“Hoodia” is a generic name of flowering plants wildly grown in South Africa which has 13 different species in it. Only one of the hoodia species named “Hoodia Gordonii” has appetite suppressing property and so could be used as a weight loss aid.

- Many of the genuine Hoodia pills are made of Hoodia Gordonii Plant extracts. But the extracts need not necessarily result in weight loss. The hoodia pills made of real hoodia gordonii (NOT extracts) are said to be more effective for weight loss.
- Some Genuine Hoodia Pills have extracts of hoodia plants harvested years ago as lot of time is involved in buying hoodia from many middlemen involved. This can deteriorate the quality of hoodia pills.
- There are very few Real Hoodia Gordonii pills that are made of fresh whole hoodia Gordonii and so can definitely suppress appetite and thus aid in weight loss.

Hoodia diet pill truths:
- Taking real hoodia pills just suppresses appetite. It does replace a bad diet and emotional eating.
- If you have the habit of overeating even when you are not hungry, hoodia pills are not for you. Hoodia pills cannot do anything when you eat more even when you are not hungry.
- Hoodia Pills do not help you in building muscles; they will not burn the fat by increasing metabolic rate. They just control calorie intake and so make our body to use stored calories (fat) for energy resulting in weight loss.
- It is always better to be on a healthy diet and exercise regime when you are on real hoodia pills for better and healthy weight loss.
