There are many people which would like to sell you a copy of your credit report, but unless you really need these reports more often than once a year, you are absolutely throwing money away. Many will even claim they’ll give you a free report, but they don’t do this. What they do is sign you up for an expensive service that include a report as a bonus.
If you really need a report more often then once a year, you can purchase credit reports directly from the major credit reporting agencies. This will keep you from getting scammed. There is no risk in giving them any information.
Don’t even bother with offers for free or cheap credit reports that you see often in advertisements. The only times you will benefit from these offerings is if you need a credit monitoring service or want to be able to view your report any time you want.
